What does the Bathymetry practical exam test?
The exam covers the full drone bathymetry workflow. SPH Engineering describes it as a test of hands-on skills and experience in 3 areas:
- Gathering bathymetric data with a drone-mounted echo sounder
- Processing the recorded data
- Understanding and interpreting the results

Which SPH Engineering systems does it relate to?
SPH Engineering's echo sounder integrated system is used for water depth mapping, dredging planning and monitoring, and tailings storage facility (TSF) monitoring. SPH lists these echo sounders for the system:

What is drone bathymetry used for?
Drone bathymetry uses an echo sounder carried by a drone to measure water depth. SPH Engineering names 3 main uses for its echo sounder system: water depth mapping, dredging planning and monitoring, and tailings storage facility (TSF) monitoring. SPH notes that the method allows measurements in shallow, hazardous or inaccessible waters.
