Who the Neo 2 Fly More Combo is for
- Vloggers, travellers and families who want a tiny drone that follows and films them
- First-time pilots who want obstacle sensing in every direction
- Anyone who wants to fly indoors or near people with full propeller guards fitted
Choose something else if you want to fly with goggles (the DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo), you want the lowest price (the original DJI Neo Fly More Combo), or you shoot wide landscapes and want a larger sensor (the DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo).
Is it legal to fly in India?
Yes. At 151 g (160 g with the Digital Transceiver), per DJI, the DJI Neo 2 is a nano drone (250 g or less) under India's Drone Rules, 2021:
- No Remote Pilot Certificate is needed to fly a nano drone (Rule 36).
- You must register it on the DGCA eGCA portal and get a Unique Identification Number (UIN) before flying (Rule 14).
- Before each flight, check the Digital Sky airspace map for green, yellow and red zones.
Rules can change, so check DGCA's eGCA portal and the airspace map before you fly.
Flying tips for the DJI Neo 2
HobiTech's tips for your first flights (general good practice; always follow the DJI user manual):
- Start in a big open space. Try palm launch and gestures low and slow before using Sport mode.
- Keep the propeller guards on near people and indoors. DJI rates flight time at about 17 minutes with the guards fitted.
- Fit the Digital Transceiver for longer flights. Without it, the Neo 2 uses Wi-Fi, rated up to 500 m.
- Charge all three the night before. Use a charger of at least 45 W so the hub charges all three batteries at once.
- Update everything in DJI Fly. Update the drone and RC-N3 firmware at home before your first flight.
- Keep obstacle sensing on, but do not rely on it. The vision sensors need texture and light, so fly slowly at dusk and near thin branches and wires.
- Check the wind. DJI rates wind resistance up to 10.7 m/s, but a 151 g drone is still pushed around by gusts; stay low and close on windy days.
- Register before you fly. Get the UIN on DGCA's eGCA portal before your first outdoor flight.
