Gamma-Ray Spectrometers

Airborne gamma-ray spectrometry for radiometric survey and environmental monitoring. Medusa Radiometrics systems flown on enterprise UAV platforms.

A drone gamma-ray spectrometer maps natural and man-made radiation from low altitude. In India it suits mineral exploration and mining companies, geological survey teams, soil and environmental researchers, and teams mapping contamination or searching for lost radioactive sources.

How to choose a gamma-ray spectrometer

  • Crystal size sets sensitivity: the MS-100 (100 ml CsI, 1.5 kg) is for high-radiation areas and lost-source recovery. The MS-350 works on a drone or as a handheld system. The MS-700 (700 ml, 4.7 kg) maps soils, minerals and contamination at up to 20 km/h, and the MS-1000 (1000 ml, 6.7 kg) suits prospecting that needs high sensitivity.
  • Mounting: the MSB-303 mounting plate fits MS-series detectors directly to the DJI M300, M350 and M400; other drones need mechanical adaptation.
  • Integration: the MDC-510 cable links the detector to SkyHub 3 for power and data, and a GNSS antenna serves the detector's built-in receiver.
  • Processing: GeoHammer imports gamma-ray CSV data through its templates.

Frequently asked questions

Can the detectors be used on foot?

Yes. Optional battery handles are listed for the MS-350, MS-700 and MS-1000, rated at up to 8, 10 and 12 hours.

What is in a typical drone system?

The spectrometer, the MSB-303 mounting plate, a GNSS antenna, the MDC-510 SkyHub cable, SkyHub with its software, and processing software.

Is radiometric training available?

Yes. SPH Engineering's trainer-led course covers radiometric mission planning, execution, data processing and interpretation. Priced on request; see Training & Certification.

What does a system cost?

Every system is quoted per configuration. Ask for the current lead time with your quote.
