What is Hydromagic Survey used for?
Hydromagic Survey is a professional hydrographic survey package from Eye4Software B.V. It maps depth areas from echo sounder data combined with position from a GNSS receiver. SPH Engineering names it as the bathymetric data processing software for its drone echo sounder systems, alongside BeamworX for multibeam data.
Eye4Software describes the learning curve as short: you can create your first sounding within a single day, and free training material is available online. The views shown by SPH Engineering include:

Which hardware does Hydromagic support?
According to Eye4Software, Hydromagic works with:
- Echo sounders: professional single- and dual-frequency models from makers including CEE HydroSystems, Odom, STN Atlas and SyQwest.
- GPS and RTK receivers: almost any NMEA 0183 compatible GPS or RTK receiver, for position, height and current location. With an RTK receiver, Hydromagic can calculate the tide level in real time.
- Other sensors: tide receiver, magnetometer, motion/tilt sensor, heading sensor (compass) and AIS receiver.
Hydromagic uses raster or vector maps and includes a database of more than 5,000 predefined local and global map datums and grids.
What do you need to run it with a drone?
For drone bathymetry, SPH Engineering combines the echo sounder with the SkyHub on-board computer, a radar altimeter for precise altitude control, UgCS flight planning and processing software such as Hydromagic. Related products from HobiTech:
