Hands-on skills test covering GPR data collection, processing and interpretation, ending in an SPH Engineering certificate.
GPR Training & Certification
What will you learn in drone GPR training?
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) on a drone maps what lies beneath the surface. SPH Engineering explains the technology on its drone GPR page, and HobiTech sells the hardware in our ground penetrating radar and GPR software collections. The GPR training runs in three levels:
- GPR-1: GPR on a UAV — mounting the GPR on a drone, configuring Zond radars, planning GPR survey missions, viewing the GPR trace in Custom Payload Monitor, and basic processing in Prism 2. For users with at least basic UgCS experience.
- GPR-2: GPR Basics — for users with no GPR experience: signal propagation, what a recorded profile looks like, types of GPR, propagation speed and resolution.
- GPR-3: Advanced Module — advanced signal propagation theory, complex subsurface interpretation and troubleshooting difficult survey conditions.
Each level is available as a self-study course or a trainer-led course. Because GPR missions are planned in UgCS, the two UgCS courses are listed here too.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who runs the GPR training?
The courses and exams are delivered by SPH Engineering, the company behind UgCS and the Integrated Systems survey payloads. HobiTech coordinates enrolment for customers in India.
I have never used GPR. Which course should I take?
Start with GPR-2, GPR Basics. The trainer-led version is made for Integrated Systems users who don’t have experience with GPR. GPR-1 assumes at least basic UgCS experience.
How do the self-study GPR courses work?
After payment, the course is unlocked for your account on the SPH Engineering Academy platform, and you can finish it at your own pace. For GPR-2 and GPR-3, you receive a certificate from SPH Engineering after passing the exam.
Which GPR equipment and software does the training use?
The trainer-led GPR-1 course covers configuring Zond radars, displaying the GPR trace in Custom Payload Monitor and basic processing and interpretation in Prism 2 software.
How do I get certified in drone GPR?
Take the GPR practical exam. Each practical exam is unlocked on the SPH Engineering Academy platform after payment and can be completed at your own pace. After passing, you receive a certificate from SPH Engineering that can be shared on LinkedIn.
How do I enrol in a GPR course?
