UgCS Training & Certification
What will you learn in UgCS training?
UgCS is SPH Engineering’s mission-planning software for drone surveys (see the official UgCS page, or our UgCS licences page). HobiTech offers four UgCS courses in two levels:
- UgCS Basics (self-study) — the core features of UgCS, guiding you through mission planning and execution.
- UgCS Basics (trainer-led) — an online self-paced part followed by a live Zoom session with a trainer. It covers installation, simple mission planning, connecting a DJI drone through the UgCS for DJI app, flight simulation, telemetry, photogrammetry missions with UgCS Mapper (orthophoto and DSM), KML import/export, offline work and vehicle profiles.
- Area Scan & TTF (self-study) — flying with the SkyHub and True Terrain Following (TTF) flight kit on DJI M300/M350 drones.
- Area Scan & TTF Missions (trainer-led) — planning AreaScan missions with DSM data, installing SkyHub and an altimeter, Custom Payload Monitor, TTF and Grasshopper modes, fail-safe actions, battery changes mid-route and safety in TTF mode.
UgCS is also the planning software used across the survey payload courses, so the two UgCS courses appear again on our GPR, bathymetry, magnetometer and methane detection training pages.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who runs the UgCS training?
The courses and exams are delivered by SPH Engineering, the company behind UgCS and the Integrated Systems survey payloads. HobiTech coordinates enrolment for customers in India.
Which UgCS course should I start with?
Start with UgCS Basics. The trainer-led basics course is recommended for new UgCS users, while the trainer-led Area Scan & TTF course is meant for users who already have basic UgCS knowledge.
How do the self-study UgCS courses work?
After payment, the course is unlocked for your account on the SPH Engineering Academy platform, and you can finish it at your own pace. After passing the exam, you receive a certificate from SPH Engineering that can be shared on LinkedIn.
How is the trainer-led UgCS Basics course delivered?
It has an online self-paced part followed by a live video-call session with a trainer via Zoom. It can also be conducted at SPH Engineering’s office.
Which drones does the Area Scan & TTF course cover?
