What is the universal heavy-payload mount used for?
Several survey sensors do not sit on the drone's gimbal port. They hang below the aircraft on a rope or cable, for example so that an echo sounder sits in the water or a water sampler can drop into it. This SPH Engineering mount gives those payloads a secure attachment point under a DJI M400.
SPH Engineering describes it as a "universal mount for payloads on ropes/cables: echo sounders, water samplers, etc." It weighs 120 g with its insert and 60 g without, according to SPH's listing. For the DJI M350 RTK or M300 RTK, choose the universal mount for DJI M350/M300 RTK instead.

Check the total payload weight against your drone before you plan a mission. SPH Engineering lists 1.8 kg for the EchoNIMBUS-MBES with its foldable mounting, 1.8 kg for the full EchoNIMBUS-SSS payload and 2000 g for the LX-80-AB kit. For the EchoNIMBUS systems, SPH gives 2.4 kg for all airborne components, including SkyHub, the altimeter, housing, cables and mountings.
What do you need for a complete suspended-payload system?
The mount carries the load. The rest of the system comes from SPH Engineering's integrated range:
- A DJI M400 drone. SkyHub on the M400 also needs the SkyHub 3 smart cable assembly for DJI M400.
- The payload itself, for example from our bathymetry or magnetometer ranges.
- The SkyHub on-board computer to log the sensor data, with the matching software package, such as the SkyHub echo sounder package.
- An altimeter for height control over water or ground, such as the Ainstein US-D1 radar altimeter or LightWare SF30/D laser altimeter, with the True Terrain Following package.
- UgCS flight planning software, for example UgCS EXPERT.

No. It is the mount only. SkyHub, the software package, the sensor, an altimeter and UgCS are ordered separately.
