What will you learn in magnetometer training?
Drone magnetometers detect ferrous objects and map the magnetic field for UXO detection, utility mapping and mineral exploration (see SPH Engineering’s magnetometer page). HobiTech sells the sensors in our magnetometers and magnetometer software collections.
The trainer-led Basics of Magnetic Data Processing & Interpretation course covers:
- Types of magnetometers, and the basics of magnetic data processing and interpretation
- Data processing in GeoHammer Pro, Seequent Oasis montaj, or SENSYS MagDrone DataTool and MAGNETO® software
- The airborne magnetometers in the Integrated Systems lineup: SPH Engineering MagNIMBUS, SENSYS MagDrone R4/R3/R1 and Geometrics MagArrow
The magnetometer program is one trainer-led course plus a practical exam; there is no self-study magnetometer course at present. Magnetometer survey missions are planned in UgCS, so the UgCS courses are listed on this page too.

Take the magnetometer practical exam. It tests hands-on skills in gathering, processing and understanding magnetometer data. Each practical exam is unlocked on the SPH Engineering Academy platform after payment and can be completed at your own pace. After passing, you receive a certificate from SPH Engineering that can be shared on LinkedIn.
