What is the SkyHub 3 cable for Pixhawk used for?
SkyHub is SPH Engineering's drone onboard computer. It powers a survey sensor, logs its readings with position and time, and can run True Terrain Following. On Pixhawk and Cube autopilots it talks to the flight controller over MAVLink through a Telem port.
This cable makes that link. On the SkyHub side it has a Switchcraft W16982-7SG-P-518 connector. On the autopilot side it has a JST 6-pin receptacle for the Pixhawk Telem port.
Which drones can use it?
SPH lists these Pixhawk/Cube-based platforms for SkyHub: Inspired Flight IF1200A and IF800, Wispr Ranger Pro, Harris Aerial H6, Skyfront Perimeter 8, DroneBase X4-1000, Hexadrone Tundra, Avartek Boxer and other PX4/ArduCopter drones. SkyHub takes 12–60 V from the drone battery on these platforms. SPH lists only a signal connector for this cable, with no XT30 power socket, so plan how SkyHub is powered on your airframe. For the IF1200A, SPH sells a dedicated SkyHub 3 cable for IF1200A.
How is the autopilot link set up?
The SkyHub user manual recommends a MAVLink baud rate of 230400 on the Telem port. By default SkyHub uses component ID 5 and system ID 2. Set the matching serial port parameters in ArduPilot or PX4 before flight.
Which SkyHub cable do I need?
Every SkyHub 3rd generation cable does one job. Pick the cable by what you are connecting SkyHub to. Connector details are from SPH Engineering's product pages.
