What is GeoHammer used for?
SPH Engineering describes GeoHammer as a simple-to-use tool to quickly assess and process ground penetrating radar (GPR) data and CSV data from sensors such as magnetometers, metal detectors and gamma-ray spectrometers. The interface is kept simple, so it is useful for checking data in the field.
Its processing options cover common tasks such as detecting utilities and other man-made objects:
- Display data tracks on the map, and geotag data using POS files or precise flight tracks
- Split data into separate lines and set marks in the data
- GPR: background removal, contrast (gain) adjustment and amplitude maps
- CSV: low-pass filtering, GNSS time-lag compensation, data quality checks for coverage and altitude range, running median filtering to highlight anomalies, and data gridding
What is the difference between GeoHammer free and GeoHammer Pro?
SPH Engineering states that the free version has the same capabilities as GeoHammer Pro, except that it cannot export GeoTIFF and KML files. Support is also different.

Which sensors and data formats does GeoHammer read?
GeoHammer imports GPR data in SEG-Y and GSSI DZT formats, and Cerulean Sonar SVLOG files from the Cerulean Surveyor 240-16 MBES and OmniScan 450. CSV import uses customisable templates. Out of the box, it has templates for:
- SPH Engineering SkyHub data log (position.csv) and MagNIMBUS magnetometer
- SENSYS MagDrone R4, R3 and R1 (ASC format), and MagDrone R1 raw data
- Medusa MS series gamma-ray spectrometers
- Geometrics MagArrow, GEM Systems GSMP-25/35, Marine Magnetics SeaSpy, SMAGALL HSF-113 and Geodevice AeroSmartMag
- POS (position solution) files
