The Radar Systems zBELL is a small multi-frequency RTK GNSS receiver that adds centimetre-level positioning to ground GPR surveys with the Zond cart, sending NMEA data over Bluetooth or USB. HobiTech supplies it in India as an Official Partner of SPH Engineering.

What is the zBELL used for?
The zBELL gives accurate positions to ground-based GPR data. Radar Systems, the Latvian maker of the Zond GPR range, designed it for surveying, mapping and navigation with centimetre precision. It tracks four main satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou) plus QZSS and SBAS on 184 channels, and in RTK mode reaches 1 cm + 1 ppm accuracy.
A GPR profile is only as useful as the position attached to each trace. When you push a radar on a cart, there is no drone GNSS to tag the data. A receiver on the cart supplies that position, so buried pipes, cables and voids can be placed on a map and found again.
What does the zBELL work with?
SPH Engineering lists the zBELL as working with the standard cart for Zond Aero GPR systems. That GPR cart for terrestrial surveys has a 5/8-inch thread mounting adapter for a GPS receiver, and it is compatible with the Zond Aero 500 NG, Zond Aero 600 NG and Zond Aero 1000 NG, as well as the Zond-12e Drone 500A/1000A.
The zBELL shown in the cart's product photos is not part of the cart. SPH Engineering sells it separately, so order both if you want positioned ground surveys.
Position data is sent in the standard NMEA format over Bluetooth or USB to the connected device.
When do you need a zBELL?
- Ground surveys with a Zond Aero cart, where you need each trace placed on a map rather than only a distance along the line from the cart's 1000 ppr encoder.
- Grid surveys that will be combined into depth slices or 3D views, where lines must be placed accurately relative to each other.
- Repeat surveys, where you must return to the same spot later.
