MBES-2 is SPH Engineering's trainer-led course on processing multibeam bathymetric data in BeamworX software. It is for teams who collect data with the EchoNIMBUS-MBES drone payload and need finished deliverables. HobiTech coordinates enrolment in India.

What does the MBES-2 course cover?
MBES-2 is the processing half of SPH Engineering's multibeam training path. The first course, MBES-1, teaches mission planning, execution and data verification with the EchoNIMBUS-MBES payload, and does not cover post-processing. MBES-2 picks up from there and works through the multibeam processing workflow in BeamworX:
- Import: bringing recorded multibeam survey data into BeamworX
- Cleaning: cleaning the imported multibeam data
- Calibration: calibrating the data
- Deliverables: generating the outputs you hand to a client
The session ends with a practical exercise, or remote support where the exercise cannot be run live.
How is the trainer-led course delivered?
SPH Engineering states that the training lasts up to 4 hours, and one enrolment covers a group of up to 4 students. That lets a small survey team learn the same workflow together. According to SPH's course listing, the course is accessed through the SPH Engineering Academy after payment, and a certificate from SPH Engineering that can be shared on LinkedIn is issued after passing the exam.
SPH asks participants to collect their own survey data before the training, so it can be used during the processing session. Working on your own EchoNIMBUS-MBES data means the trainer can help with the exact issues in your files.

Which equipment does the course relate to?
SPH Engineering's echo sounder integrated system lists EchoNIMBUS-MBES at 240 kHz with a range of 0.5 to 50 m. The system is used for water depth mapping, dredging planning and monitoring, and tailings storage facility (TSF) monitoring. SPH lists compatible drones including the DJI M400, M350 and M300.
