The SENSYS MagBase is a measurement device for stationary recording of the Earth's magnetic field. SENSYS recommends it as the reference station for drone magnetometer surveys with the SENSYS MagDrone. HobiTech supplies it in India as an Official Partner of SPH Engineering.
What is the SENSYS MagBase used for?
A reference station stays on the ground and records the magnetic field in one place while the drone flies. Its data is used to remove daily (diurnal) changes in the field from the survey data.
In an SPH Engineering webinar on MagDrone surveys, SENSYS answered a question on diurnal correction: the survey data can be merged and recalculated with the MagBase system. Asked whether a ground magnetometer is needed as a reference station, SENSYS recommended the MagBase. With MagBase data, the correction is applied in one click in the SENSYS MagDrone DataTool. Another magnetometer can also be used, but the correction then needs third-party software such as Oasis montaj.
