  • Rugged transport case
  • Charger
  • Prism2 data acquisition and post-processing software

What is the Cobra Plug-In GPR used for?

It is built for depth rather than detail. Low frequencies travel further into the ground but show less fine detail, so the Cobra Plug-In suits deep geophysical investigations and engineering surveys where high resolution is not the priority. SPH Engineering gives a depth of up to 20-30 m depending on ground conditions.

For shallow targets such as utilities and small buried objects, a higher-frequency radar like the 500 MHz Cobra Drone CBD or the Zond Aero 1000 NG is usually the better fit.

Which antenna should you choose?

The kit comes with one antenna. All three are single-channel, unshielded designs, and they differ in frequency, length and weight:

Antenna Centre frequency Bandwidth Size Weight
SE-40 52 MHz 15-105 MHz 200 x 15 x 21 cm 5.2 kg
SE-70 80 MHz 20-140 MHz 139 x 15 x 21 cm 4.9 kg
SE-150 124 MHz 20-280 MHz 92 x 22 x 22 cm 4.6 kg

The lowest frequency, SE-40, is the longest antenna and aims deepest. The SE-150 is the shortest and gives more detail at shallower depth.

How does it integrate with SkyHub and UgCS?

SPH Engineering's SkyHub software package for GPR lists Radarteam Cobra Plug-In and Cobra CBD as supported systems. It runs on the SkyHub on-board computer, which SPH describes as the GPR data logger and the unit that enables True Terrain Following for DJI drones. Missions are planned in UgCS. The kit listed above does not include drone brackets, so confirm the mounting for your aircraft when you request a quote.

Prism2 is included for acquisition and processing. SPH Engineering also names GeoHammer Pro for GPR post-processing; see our GPR software range. Browse the full ground penetrating radar range, or read SPH Engineering's drone GPR technology page.

Why buy the Cobra Plug-In from HobiTech?

HobiTech is an authorised SPH Engineering partner based in Bengaluru, India. Every order comes with a GST invoice, and you get a local team for the sensor, the drone and the software. SPH-certified GPR training is available through HobiTech.

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep can the Cobra Plug-In GPR reach?

Up to 20-30 m depending on ground properties. Conductive ground such as wet clay reduces depth.

How many antennas are included?

One. You choose the SE-40 (52 MHz), SE-70 (80 MHz) or SE-150 (124 MHz) when ordering.

Is the Cobra Plug-In good for finding utilities?

It is designed for deep surveys where high resolution is not required. For shallow utilities, a 500 MHz or higher-frequency radar gives more detail.

What data format does it record?

16-bit raw data saved in standard SEG-Y format with trace geotagging, processed in the included Prism2 software.

Is it weatherproof?

It is rated IP67 and operates from -20°C to 50°C.

How do I buy the Cobra Plug-In GPR in India?

Use Request a quote on this page, or call HobiTech on +91 70225 26509. We confirm the price and configuration, and every order comes with a GST invoice.
