Specifications from DJI; prices from HobiTech. Choose the 4T for thermal inspection and night search; choose the 4E for mapping accuracy.

Who the Matrice 4T is for

  • Power utilities and solar operators finding hotspots on lines, substations and panels
  • Fire, police and disaster-response teams that search at night
  • Forestry and wildlife teams spotting heat signatures over large areas
  • Industrial plants inspecting equipment from a safe distance

Choose something else if you mainly map and survey (the DJI Matrice 4E Worry-Free Plus Combo) or need a larger enterprise platform (the DJI Matrice 400).

Is it legal to fly in India?

Yes, with the right paperwork. At 1,219 g (per DJI), the Matrice 4T is a micro drone (more than 250 g, up to 2 kg) under India's Drone Rules, 2021:

  • You must register it on the DGCA eGCA portal and get a Unique Identification Number (UIN) before flying.
  • A Remote Pilot Certificate is needed for commercial work, which covers most inspection and service jobs.
  • Third-party insurance is required for drones heavier than the nano class.
  • Before each flight, check the Digital Sky airspace map for green, yellow and red zones.

Rules can change, so check DGCA's eGCA portal and the airspace map before you fly.

Field tips for the Matrice 4T

HobiTech's tips for inspection and response teams (general good practice; always follow the DJI user manual and your operating procedures):

  • Plan for more batteries. The kit has one flight battery, so add spares for long jobs.
  • Pick the right gain mode. Use high gain for better accuracy up to 150 °C, and low gain for hotter targets up to 550 °C.
  • Set emissivity and distance for measurement. Temperature readings depend on the surface and the distance, so check your settings before you report a number.
  • Keep the thermal lens away from the sun. DJI warns that strong energy sources such as the sun or a laser can permanently damage the sensor.
  • Carry fast microSD cards. The drone has no internal storage.
  • Update firmware at base. Update the aircraft and the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise before you deploy.
  • Check the wind. DJI rates wind resistance at 12 m/s.
  • Mind the heat. DJI rates operation up to 40 °C, so on hot days, fly in the cooler hours and keep batteries shaded.
  • Arrange permissions early. Get the UIN, the pilot's Remote Pilot Certificate and insurance in place, and check airspace permissions for your usual areas before an emergency.
  • Keep obstacle sensing on near structures. Thin wires and cables are still hard to detect, so keep the drone in sight.

Warranty and HobiTech support

  • 1-Year Premium Warranty from HobiTech, included free, on the DJI Matrice 4T drone. It covers manufacturing defects; motor, gimbal and mechanical failures; flight controller, sensor and GPS faults; and battery and power faults under normal use.
  • Not covered: accessories, including the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise controller, the Charging Hub, the power adapter, the storage case, propellers and cables, and accidental or physical damage. Our in-house repair lab in Bengaluru can still fix these.
  • How to claim: use the warranty claim form or call/WhatsApp +91 70225 26509. We usually reply within one business day.
  • The kit also includes 1 year of DJI Care Enterprise Plus from DJI, available in India.
  • Extended 1-year and 2-year comprehensive warranties and an annual maintenance plan are available.
  • Every order comes with a GST invoice.

Shipping and returns

  • Free shipping across India by DTDC.
  • Dispatched within 3 days of confirmed payment; usually delivered 2–3 days after dispatch.
  • Report damage in transit or missing items within 48 hours of delivery, with an unboxing video. The product must be unused and in its original packaging. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method.
