The DJI Matrice 400 is DJI's flagship enterprise drone platform: it carries interchangeable payloads rather than a fixed camera. DJI rates it at up to 59 minutes of forward flight, a maximum payload of 6 kg, IP55 protection, and power-line-level obstacle sensing from rotating LiDAR and mmWave radar. It flies with DJI O4 Enterprise Enhanced transmission at up to 40 km (FCC) and supports the Zenmuse H30 series, L2, L3, P1, S1 and V1, Manifold 3 and third-party payloads. HobiTech's price is for the standard package: the aircraft, the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise controller and a carrying case. Flight batteries, the charging station and payloads are sold separately. At about 9.74 kg with its battery, it is a small drone in India. Sold by HobiTech, a genuine DJI dealer in Bengaluru, with a GST invoice and HobiTech's own 1-year warranty on the drone.

Specifications from DJI; prices from HobiTech. Choose the Matrice 400 for heavy or multiple payloads, long missions and IP55 protection; choose the Matrice 4 Series for a compact, ready-to-fly drone.
Who the Matrice 400 is for
- Power utilities and infrastructure teams flying close to lines and structures
- Survey and mapping teams using LiDAR or full-frame payloads
- Public safety and emergency teams that need spotlights, speakers or thermal zoom payloads
- Operators who want one airframe for many missions
Choose something else if you want a compact drone with built-in cameras (the Matrice 4T or Matrice 4E).
Is it legal to fly in India?
Yes, with the right paperwork. At about 9.74 kg with its battery (per DJI), the Matrice 400 is a small drone (more than 2 kg, up to 25 kg) under India's Drone Rules, 2021:
- You must register it on the DGCA eGCA portal and get a Unique Identification Number (UIN) before flying.
- The pilot needs a Remote Pilot Certificate for a drone in this class.
- Third-party insurance is required.
- Before each flight, check the Digital Sky airspace map for green, yellow and red zones.
Rules can change, so check DGCA's eGCA portal and the airspace map before you fly.
Field tips for the Matrice 400
HobiTech's tips for enterprise teams (general good practice; always follow the DJI user manual and your operating procedures):
- Budget for batteries and charging. The standard package has no TB100 flight batteries or BS100 station, so plan them in your purchase.
- Match the payload to the job. Check the weight limit for each gimbal connector before you mount a payload.
- Balance payload against flight time. DJI's flight times are measured under set conditions; heavier payloads and wind shorten them.
- Fit the port covers. Use the rubber port covers on unused ports, and remember DJI notes the IP55 rating can decrease with wear.
- Use ADS-B awareness. Watch for crewed aircraft alerts, especially near airports and helipads.
- Update firmware at base. Update the aircraft, controller and payloads before you deploy.
- Check the wind. DJI rates wind resistance at 12 m/s.
- Arrange permissions early. Get the UIN, the pilot's Remote Pilot Certificate and insurance in place before operations.
- Keep obstacle sensing on near structures. It is designed for power-line work, but keep safe distances and the drone in sight.
- Train the crew together. Heavier aircraft need a clear take-off area and a defined role for each team member.
Warranty and HobiTech support
