The MR77 is a 77 GHz obstacle detection radar for the DJI M350 RTK and M300 RTK. It spots obstacles up to 40 m ahead and triggers return-to-home or a hover. HobiTech supplies it in India.

| Sensor | 77GHz radar |
| Detection range | Up to 40m |
| Sensor weight | 90g |
What is the MR77 obstacle detection radar used for?
SPH Engineering offers this system for DJI M350/M300 RTK drones. The radar looks ahead of the drone and detects obstacles at up to 40 m. When an obstacle comes inside the range you set, the system reacts on its own, without waiting for the pilot.
SPH Engineering states that it works in conditions where the DJI M350/M300 RTK built-in obstacle sensors fail: dark, snow, rain, fog and bright sun. Because the reaction happens on board, it also protects the drone during BLOS (beyond line of sight) flights and at moments when the connection with the ground station is lost.
- Configurable trigger distance: set in the software settings.
- Two responses: RTH (return to home), or stop and hover.
- Automatic engagement: the system starts only above a set altitude and speed, both configurable, so it does not block normal take-offs and landings in confined spaces.

SPH Engineering notes that it is the customer's responsibility to check whether a 77 GHz sensor may be used in their country. Source: SPH Engineering's obstacle detection radar page.
What do you need to run the MR77?
The radar is not a stand-alone unit. SPH Engineering lists three requirements:
- The SkyHub on-board computer, which reads the radar and triggers the response.
- An additional SkyHub software package for the radar.
- UgCS ground control software, for example UgCS PRO or UgCS EXPERT.
The radar suits missions where a survey payload must fly low. Examples in our Integrated Systems range are magnetometers such as the SENSYS MagDrone R3, which can fly with True Terrain Following and an altimeter such as the Ainstein US-D1 or LightWare SF30/D. Why buy the MR77 from HobiTech?
HobiTech is an authorised SPH Engineering partner based in Bengaluru, India. Every order comes with a GST invoice, and our local team supports the sensor, the drone and the software together. SPH's UgCS training courses are also available through HobiTech.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far can the MR77 detect obstacles?
Up to 40 m in front of the drone. You set the distance at which it triggers in the software settings.
What does the drone do when an obstacle is detected?
It triggers RTH (return to home). You can set it to stop and hover instead.
Does it work if the radio link to the ground station is lost?
Yes. The reaction runs on board through SkyHub, so SPH Engineering describes it as protection for BLOS flights and for moments when the ground station connection is lost.
Will the radar stop my drone from landing near trees or buildings?
No. It engages automatically only above a set altitude and speed, which you configure, so normal take-offs and landings in confined spaces are not blocked.
Which drones is the MR77 compatible with?
The DJI M350 RTK and M300 RTK. It needs SkyHub, a SkyHub software package and UgCS.
