Is the DJI Neo legal to fly in India?

Yes. At 135 g it is a nano drone (250 g or less) under India's Drone Rules, 2021:

• No Remote Pilot Certificate is needed to fly a nano drone (Rule 36).
• You must register it on the DGCA Digital Sky platform and get a Unique Identification Number (UIN) before flying (Rule 14).
• Before each flight, check the Digital Sky airspace map for green, yellow and red zones.

• Keep it close. The Neo is built for close-range shots, not long-distance flights. Its GPS is weaker than on larger DJI drones, and at 135 g it gets pushed around by wind.
• Charge gently. Use a lower-power charger rather than a high-wattage fast charger, to keep the batteries healthy for longer.
• Flying indoors? Pick a large, open, well-lit room. GPS is weak inside buildings, so the Neo holds position with its downward camera. Outdoors, wait for a strong GPS signal in the DJI Fly app before you take off.

Yes. It takes off and lands from your palm, and you can fly it from the DJI Fly app on your phone. Follow, Expanse, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight and Custom shots work from palm or app control; Helix and Boomerang are available in the app. The included RC-N3 adds stick control and longer range.

Does the DJI Neo have obstacle avoidance?

No. It has downward vision positioning only, for stable hovering 0.5–10 m above the ground. There is no forward, backward or side sensing, so keep clear of trees, walls and people. For all-round obstacle sensing, look at the DJI Neo 2.

Is the DJI Neo good for beginners, and can I fly it indoors?

Yes. Palm takeoff, automatic shots and a light 135 g frame make it one of the easiest drones to start with, and the propeller guards help at close range. Indoors, fly in a well-lit room: the downward sensor needs light to hold position, and there is no side obstacle sensing.

DJI Neo vs DJI Neo 2: which should I buy?

Choose the Neo 2 if you want omnidirectional obstacle sensing (vision plus forward LiDAR), 4K/60fps (4K/100fps with a controller) and 49 GB of storage. Choose the Neo if you want the lightest, most affordable way into self-flying 4K video.

DJI Neo vs DJI Mini 4K: which is better?

The Mini 4K flies longer (31 minutes) and handles more wind (Level 5), but it needs a microSD card and has no palm takeoff or follow-me tracking. The Neo is smaller, lighter and built for hands-free vlogging.
