Short answer: The DJI D-RTK 3 Multifunctional Station is worth choosing because one IP67-rated unit works as an RTK base station, a survey rover and a video relay, giving centimetre-level positioning to DJI enterprise and agriculture drones without separate kit for each job. HobiTech does not sell the D-RTK 3, but we can advise on it and on the RTK-ready drones it pairs with, such as the Matrice 4E.

Key takeaways
- Three modes in one unit: base station, rover (survey pole) and relay station.
- Base station mode tracks 5 GNSS systems on 19 frequencies; DJI quotes antenna phase-centre accuracy of 2 mm or better.
- IP67 rating, operating range of -20 °C to 55 °C, and a 6,500 mAh battery rated for about 7 hours as a base, 10 hours as a rover and 4 hours as a relay.
- Base coverage of up to 15 km (FCC), extended to up to 40 km (FCC) or 20 km (CE) with the Matrice 400 after a 2025 firmware update.
- Works with the Matrice 4 series, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 400 and several Agras models in base mode, per DJI compatibility lists.

What the D-RTK 3 does
A drone's standard GNSS receiver is accurate to a few metres: fine for flying, not for mapping or precision agriculture. Real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning compares satellite signals at a known, stationary base with those received by the drone and sends corrections in real time, giving centimetre-level positioning.
The D-RTK 3 is DJI's current RTK station, built to switch roles depending on the job. If you are still deciding between RTK, post-processing and ground control points, read our explainer on RTK vs PPK vs GCP for mapping first.
Seven reasons to choose the D-RTK 3
1. One unit, three jobs
In base station mode it broadcasts RTK corrections to drones. In rover mode it goes on a survey pole to measure ground control and check points, using its IMU for tilt compensation. In relay mode it extends video transmission around obstructions.
2. Wide satellite coverage
Base station mode supports 5 GNSS constellations and 19 frequencies. More satellites and signals mean a faster, more stable fix, which matters in Indian conditions such as open-cast mines, valleys and dense urban plots where sky view is partly blocked.
3. Accuracy you can document
DJI quotes a phase-centre accuracy of 2 mm or better. In rover mode, published RTK fixed accuracy is 0.8 cm + 1 ppm horizontal and 1.5 cm + 1 ppm vertical. That level of accuracy is what lets mapping outputs line up with cadastral and engineering drawings.
4. Several ways to set the base position
You can connect to a network RTK or your own CORS/NTRIP service, enter known coordinates manually, or use DJI's standalone PPP, which gives decimetre-level base positioning with no internet connection. DJI's 2025 firmware added Galileo HAS alongside BeiDou PPP-B2b, which improves availability in the Asia-Pacific region.
5. Built for the field
An IP67 rating, a -20 °C to 55 °C operating range and DJI's claim that it survives a 2 m pole drop make it suited to Indian summers, monsoon dust and rough site handling. It has physical buttons, indicator lights and a standard 5/8-inch mount for third-party poles and tripods.
6. Long battery life
The built-in 6,500 mAh (46.8 Wh) battery is rated for about 7 hours as a base, 10 hours as a rover and 4 hours as a relay. It charges over USB Type-C with USB PD, so it can be topped up from a vehicle or power bank between sorties.
7. Long-range support for big sites
Base coverage reaches up to 15 km (FCC). After the June 2025 firmware update, the D-RTK 3 can serve the Matrice 400 at up to 40 km (FCC) or 20 km (CE), useful for corridor mapping of roads, pipelines and power lines.

Which drones work with it?
DJI's published compatibility lists for base station mode include the Matrice 4 series, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 400, Mavic 3 Enterprise series and several Agras models. Relay mode is listed for the Matrice 4E and Matrice 4T, and for DJI Dock 3 operations. Rover mode pairs with an Android device over Bluetooth. Compatibility changes with firmware, so confirm your exact aircraft on DJI's support page before buying.
From HobiTech's range, the most common pairing for survey work is the DJI Matrice 4E, which has a mechanical-shutter wide camera for mapping. Heavier jobs suit the Matrice 350 RTK or Matrice 400. All are quoted per configuration. Browse the full inspection and survey drones range.
Do you need a D-RTK 3?
Not always. If your area has reliable network RTK or CORS coverage and mobile data, the drone can take corrections directly. A station makes sense where there is no network coverage, where you need a fixed local base for repeat surveys, or where you want one tool for ground control and relay too. For agricultural spraying, RTK helps the drone hold accurate routes and boundaries field after field. See our agriculture drones range.
Remember that the drone, not the base station, is what DGCA regulates. Commercial survey flights with Micro or larger drones need a registered aircraft and a pilot with a DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate. Our DGCA drone rules guide covers the details.

Frequently asked questions
Does HobiTech sell the DJI D-RTK 3?
No. HobiTech does not stock the D-RTK 3, but we can advise on it and enquire on your behalf. Contact us via the contact page.
What accuracy does the D-RTK 3 give?
DJI's published rover RTK fixed accuracy is 0.8 cm + 1 ppm horizontally and 1.5 cm + 1 ppm vertically. Final map accuracy also depends on the drone, flight plan and processing.
Can the D-RTK 3 work without internet?
Yes. It can set its base position using DJI's standalone PPP, manual known coordinates or a network RTK service. PPP gives decimetre-level base positioning without a network connection.
Is the D-RTK 3 waterproof?
It is rated IP67 and operates from -20 °C to 55 °C, so it handles dust, rain and heat on typical Indian sites.
Which HobiTech drone should I pair with an RTK station for mapping?
For most survey work, the DJI Matrice 4E is the usual choice. It is quoted per configuration; ask our team for a quote.
