DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo (DJI RC)

₹84,990₹1,09,999

Sub-249g drone with 4K/30fps HDR, True Vertical Shooting, 38-min flight and three batteries — includes DJI RC with built-in screen.

DJI Mini 3 vs DJI Mini 4K vs DJI Mini 4 Pro

All three weigh under 249 g, so all three sit in the same relaxed regulatory category. The differences are sensor, sensing and controller — and the Mini 3 sits deliberately in the middle.

The jump from Mini 4K to Mini 3 is mostly light. A 1/1.3" sensor at f/1.7 gathers appreciably more of it than a 1/2.3" at f/2.8, which shows up exactly when you care — sunrise, dusk, indoors. You also get the longest flight time of the three and a controller with its own screen, so your phone stays in your pocket and your battery stays charged.

The jump from Mini 3 to Mini 4 Pro buys omnidirectional obstacle sensing and O4 transmission. If you fly in tight spaces, near trees, or you are still learning, that sensing is worth the difference. If you fly in open country and you are comfortable on the sticks, the Mini 3 does the same job for ₹15,000 less.

Flying the DJI Mini 3 legally in India

At under 249 g takeoff weight, the Mini 3 falls into DGCA’s Nano category (drones under 250 g) under the Drone Rules, 2021.

Nano-category drones flown for personal, non-commercial use are exempt from UIN registration on eGCA and do not require a Remote Pilot Certificate. That is the lightest regulatory category India offers, and it is a large part of why sub-250 g drones make sensible first drones. Fly commercially and the exemptions fall away — registration and certification apply as they would to any working aircraft.

Exemption from registration is not exemption from airspace rules. India’s skies are still split into green, yellow and red zones. Roughly 90% of the country is green zone with no restrictions; yellow zones near airports need coordination; red zones are off-limits. Check the DigitalSky platform or app for your location before you fly, not after.

The basics apply whatever the category: keep the drone within visual line of sight, do not fly over crowds, and stay clear of airports, military installations and international borders.

About the DJI Mini 3

The sensor is the point

A 1/1.3" CMOS at f/1.7 is a large sensor for a drone this size, and it is the single reason to choose the Mini 3 over the Mini 4K. More light means cleaner shadows and usable footage past golden hour, when the good light actually happens. 4K/30fps HDR holds highlight detail in bright skies instead of clipping them to white.

Thirty-eight minutes, and three batteries

The longest flight time in the Mini range — 38 minutes per battery, and the combo ships three, so roughly 114 minutes of air time before anything needs a wall socket. In practice that is the difference between planning a shoot around battery swaps and simply flying until you have the shot.

True vertical shooting

The gimbal rotates to shoot genuinely vertical 4K rather than cropping a horizontal frame. If your footage ends up on Reels, Shorts or Stories, this preserves full resolution instead of throwing away the sides of every frame.

The DJI RC controller

The combo includes the DJI RC with a built-in 5.5" screen. No cables, no phone mounted on the sticks, no notifications interrupting a take, and your phone battery stays where you need it. It is a small thing that changes the experience of every flight.

What sensing it has, honestly

Downward vision and infrared only. There is no forward or lateral obstacle avoidance — that is the Mini 4 Pro’s territory. The Mini 3 will hold position and land safely, but it will not stop itself flying into a branch. Fly it with your eyes on the aircraft, which is what the rules require anyway.

What’s in the Fly More Combo

Mini 3 aircraft, DJI RC controller, three Intelligent Flight Batteries, two-way charging hub, shoulder bag, two pairs of spare propellers, USB-C cable and screwdriver. Note there is no internal storage — budget for a decent microSD card before your first flight.

More questions about the DJI Mini 3

What is the price of the DJI Mini 3 in India?

The Fly More Combo with DJI RC is ₹74,990 at Hobitech, down from ₹1,09,999. GST invoice and warranty included.

Do I need to register the DJI Mini 3 with DGCA?

Not for personal use. Under 249 g it is a Nano-category drone, exempt from UIN registration and from needing a Remote Pilot Certificate. Commercial flying is a different matter — those exemptions do not apply.

How is the Mini 3 different from the Mini 4K?

A larger 1/1.3" sensor at f/1.7 instead of 1/2.3" at f/2.8, 38 minutes of flight instead of 31, HDR video, true vertical shooting, and a controller with its own screen. The Mini 4K is ₹13,000 cheaper and still shoots 4K.

Does the DJI Mini 3 have obstacle avoidance?

Downward vision and infrared only. No forward or sideways sensing — for that you need the Mini 4 Pro.

How long does it fly?

38 minutes per battery. The Fly More Combo includes three, giving about 114 minutes total.

Does it come with a memory card?

No, and it has no internal storage, so a microSD card is essential. Buy one at the same time.

Can it handle wind?

Level 5, about 10.7 m/s. That covers ordinary conditions but a sub-249 g drone is always more affected by gusts than a heavier aircraft. Be cautious on coastlines and ridgelines.

Is the Mini 3 still worth buying?

If you want the best image quality available without crossing the 250 g registration threshold, and you do not need omnidirectional sensing, yes. If you are new to flying and worried about crashes, the Mini 4 Pro’s sensing is worth the extra.
