The Avata 2 is the flying machine. It has a true Manual mode, it is lighter, and with Goggles N3 and RC Motion 3 in the box it is set up for immersive first-person flight out of the tin. If the appeal is the sensation of flying, this is the one.
The Avata 360 is the camera. Shooting a full sphere means you frame the shot afterwards rather than in the air — miss nothing, decide later. That is a genuinely different workflow, and it costs only ₹5,000 more. But it ships with the RC 2 rather than goggles, and it has no acro mode.
Put simply: buy the Avata 2 to fly, the Avata 360 to film.
At roughly 377 g takeoff weight, the Avata 2 sits in DGCA’s Micro category — drones over 250 g and up to 2 kg. It is over the Nano threshold, so the paperwork applies.
India runs drone compliance across two linked platforms. eGCA handles registration: you will need a UIN (Unique Identification Number) for the aircraft. DigitalSky handles flight authorization, including NPNT (No Permission, No Takeoff) approval before every flight.
For personal, non-commercial flying, a Micro-category drone needs UIN registration but not a Remote Pilot Certificate; an RPC is required once you fly commercially. Third-party insurance is required either way.
FPV flying carries one extra consideration. Indian rules require the aircraft to stay within visual line of sight, and goggles by definition remove yours. In practice that means flying with a spotter beside you who keeps eyes on the drone throughout — standard practice in FPV and worth building into your habits from day one.

With Goggles N3 on, you are not watching a drone from outside — you are inside it. That is the entire appeal, and it is genuinely different from flying a Mini or an Air. Footage carries a momentum that a conventional camera drone cannot fake: diving through gaps, chasing along a treeline, sweeping a room in one unbroken move.
Normal caps you at 8 m/s and holds position when you let go. Sport opens it to 16 m/s. Manual is full acro at up to 27 m/s, with no assistance and nothing catching your mistakes. Most people fly the first two for months. Manual is where FPV pilots eventually live.
The propeller guards are structural, not an accessory, and that is deliberate. FPV means flying close to obstacles, and close means occasional contact. The Avata 2 is designed to bounce and keep flying where a conventional drone would end the day.
A 1/1.7" sensor with a 155° field of view shooting 4K/60, or 4K/120 for slow motion. RockSteady 3.0 and HorizonSteady keep the horizon level even as the aircraft banks hard, which is what stops FPV footage feeling nauseating to watch.

Legally you need to maintain visual line of sight, which goggles prevent. Fly with a spotter who watches the aircraft while you fly. This is normal FPV practice everywhere, not an Indian peculiarity.
